The Gallery - Health & Fitness
At the Gallery this week we are talking about Health and Fitness.
As a child I was super healthy, I practically lived outside. I liked vegetables, and most of the food I ate was from my Mum And Dad's garden, so totally organic. Of course we didn't believe in sunscreen back then and I have memories of olive oil on my skin to help me cook but we can gloss over that.
I also loved to dance and from the age of 8 to 18 I did tap modern and ballet.
But then things changed. And this happened.
I struggled to have a photo taken without a drink or a fag in hand - hello my 20's and early 30's.
I did go to the gym during this time, although I distinctly remember coming out of the gym and immediately lighting up. Hmm.
Then this happened, and this totally threw everything off. Although I did stop smoking...eventually.
Up until this point everything was possible and I intermittently attempted things to improve my fitness levels and then in 2010 I was diagnosed with Chronic Myloid Leukaemia.
I take a number of drugs, one for the Leukaemia others to counteract the drugs I take. The combination of drugs leave me fatigued with a low metabolic rate and leaves me looking bloated and prone to weight gain.
On the up side, my Leukaemia is under control and I am in full remission. So I will take that.
I am probably the healthiest I have been in the last 5 years, mentally and physically.
Apart from the broken of ankle. Which means I am taking a vast number of drugs at the moment, including injecting myself in the stomach daily to stop blood clots.
Here is my current daily dose.
When it comes to my health and fitness I will take what I can get and appreciate every day.
